I can't see time or gravity but I can see the results. You won't find that lesson in the #tanakh.

So I am obviously not having a ‘zero electricity use’ #Shabbat, but I do plan on spending time tomorrow with my newly arrived analogue #Tanakh. I’m looking forward to that.

Definitely too heavy to hold in the hand though - will need to clear some desk space.

So about a year ago when I first started reading the #Torah I used the hashtag #SheepchaseReadsTorah over on the bird site. I kept using the same tag as I read the whole #Tanakh and then decided I’d just keep using it with subsequent texts (both ‘canonical’ and other non-fiction texts about aspects of #Judaism).

I’ve decided I’ll use the tag here to make it easy for you to mute my musings if they become annoying! (Also will help me search for my own toots related to Torah).

All forms of #Judaism have taught that we have an immortal #soul. But what precisely is it, how does the soul work? Our #Torah and #Tanakh don't go into detail. More thought is found in our oral law, but there is no unified understanding of it. It is only among kabbalists or the philosophical rationalists (e.g. Maimonides, Gersonides) that we find detailed discussions. For a Jewish mystical view of the soul let's see ->
