This computer played a lot of Wolfenstein 3D & Dungeon Master II in the Radio Shack stores I was at during that time. Those games made for easy sales of the Sensation! at a starting price of $2500 for the complete system back then.

Reminder to check those batteries! I found this in my Tandy 102. Thankfully - and luckily - I don't think the corrosion did any damage to the board 🤞

This #Tandy 1400 LT portable #pc is going to be the death of me. I was happily using DEBUG.COM on the boot sector and it started glitching, and now does flaky things on boot terminating with strange characters all over the display or the display fading to "white" (dark blue). I kind of suspect voltage rails, based on the power supply surgery I've already done, but it's a pain to take apart and difficult to work on while it's apart, so I might just let it sit and think about its crimes for a bit.

6 mths ago my stepdad died. Mum is slowly clearing the house. In a cupboard is his cherished #TRS80 and I need to decide what to do with it. For difficult to explain reasons I have a huge emotional attachment to it (via him). I can't bear to see it be trashed.

I could:
• Find space in a cupboard forever
• Fire her up and explore (last used 30 yrs ago)
• Donate

Recovered my original 5.25" floppy for Temple of Death, 1990, PC Disk Quarterly, after discovering it's not archived online anywhere I can find.

If the recovery is a success (doubtful from the errors...) I'll put on Archive.org. This was a neat game I played when I was a kid.

1/ I'm looking at designing a replacement #retrocomputing power supply for the #Tandy 1400 LX PSU (by "designing", I mean "bundling together a pile of DC-DC converters"), because I have one that's not only got cap failures, but also some crispy critter components on the battery charger end. The only trouble is that it includes a supply for the electroluminescent backlight, which is ~115 VAC at 580-700 Hz according to the data sheet.

Looking forward to testing this and maybe adding a CoCoSDC to it. Is there anything I need to know about #CoCos right away? Just looking at the machine from front and back I can get the appeal, but I won't say CoCoTalks didn't have an influence too. #retrocomputing #retro
