Weirdest thing just happened.
~1 month ago I was on vacation in Morocco, bought a rug which is being shipped to our house via DHL.
Returned to USA 2 weeks ago. Was beginning to lose faith - no word from seller or DHL, no tracking number. No way beside a phone number to reach the seller.
*Today* I decide to call the number on my receipt, see what I can find out. Mis-dialed, was about to try again when I got a text from DHL with the tracking number.

I first had the idea to visit Morocco 23 years ago, but I was not anywhere near being in #Recovery and it would have been a ghastly trip. Think Sheltering Sky but far more pedestrian.

we bought a sim card, changed some cash (credit cards are nearly useless here) and seized the opportunity to pedal out of #tangier while all moroccans watched their football wm game against belgium and the streets had less traffic.
during the first few kilometers we spoke with more local people than on our whole spain trip.
in #temsila we searched a spot to sleep and with some sign language mohamed offered us a place in his unfinished house.

Have only just learned about #TombTuesday — where has this been all my (social media) life? Finally a day-of-the-week hashtag I can dig.
Apparently the oldest #cemetery photo in my camera roll, from 2006. #Tangier Island, #Virginia, USA. The island is less than a meter above sea level (for now), hence the need for the stone slabs sitting atop each grave.

One of the most memorable hotels I've stayed in: Hotel Continental in #Tangier, #Morocco. Among the oldest hotels in the city, from 1872, with an abundant but little bit run-down interior. It looks like time stood still in the hotel. Parts of the movie The sheltering sky was filmed in the hotel and it had famous guests like Winston Churchill, Queen Victoria's son Edward VII, Jack Kerouac, Paul Bowles and The rolling stones.
