Franz #Liszt wrote one of the greatest piano sonatas of the 19th century. His sonata in b belongs firmly in the #canon. His pupils Julius #Reubke (who died age 24) and Felix #Draeseke (who started as a follower of Liszt and Wagner, but soon came under the influence of Brahms) wrote excellent #piano #sonatas too. Claudius #Tanski, one of my favourite pianists, plays both excellently.
