Since there was a bit of interest in my latest tape machine addition, here's the first tape deck I bought a few months ago. @aradiogurl helped me to get it running. This thing is heavy as hell and built like a tank so it's not surprising it's still playing tape 50+ years on. 😻

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask, but Audiophile Mastodon: which pre-amp should I use for my vintage mid/hi-end 1987 tape deck? I want to minimize any additional signal noise as much as possible in order to maximize the output quality of the tape deck. Can I just hook up the rear RCA outputs to like a Schiit pre-amp?

Will need to see how well the recording function works, but I first need to double check my EQ hookup. And I really need better speakers, these are all mid-range. The balance was slightly off on my #technics RS-D200 #tapedeck, so I took it apart to see if I can do something about it. Luckily it was very easy. There are potentiometers for everything, adjusting PB gain (on the right) did the trick. For some reason they were misaligned, probably by the previous owner. Now the balance is perfect. The belts and everything else seems to be in mint condition. #cassette #diyrepair #analogaudio
