I am not aware of anything notable about Philip Frank or his wife Philipine, whose tomb stands in Lafayette Cemetery #1 in New Orleans. The marble entrance has been pieced back together after heavy damage by the elements or vandals. That’s the work of Save Our Cemeteries, a non-profit that repairs tombs and, provides cemetery tours in NOLA. Their plaque indicates a restoration in progress.

Once he was the King of Spain. Now, he lies in this marble sarcophagus under the dome of Les Invalides in Paris. This is the tomb of Joseph-Napoleon Bonaparte, younger brother of the well-known Napoleon. After defeat in the Battle of Paris in 1814, Joseph fled to the U.S. where he lived comfortably on the proceeds from jewels retained from his stint as the King of Spain. He moved to London in 1832 until his death in 1844.

Another atmospheric manor in one of the older New Orleans cemeteries.

This unassuming opening is the gateway to the underworld. Ok, technically, it is the entrance to the ossuary in the catacombs under Paris. Built in the quarries for the limestone used to construct much of Paris, the ossuary was established to relieve the (literally) overflowing Parisian cemeteries in the late 18th century. An estimated 6-7 million people are interred here.
