Needed to compress a directory, and noticed that my script was lacking the ability to perform that action… so I’ve added a directory check to the xz9 compress script 💫
It should work, if you encounter problems, let me know ^^
It creates an .xz in case of file and .tar.xz in case of directory 📦

To create a tarball, remember "Create A File":
tar -caf my_archive.tar.gz file1.txt file2.png
To extract a tarball, remember "eXtract A File":
tar -xaf my_archive.tar.gz
(This works great on Linux. On macOS and some other systems, the -a flag causes problems during extraction—use -xf instead.)

exfat does not keep track of permissions - moving a file into an exfat and then back out will make the file have permissions set to 777, this is very rarely what you want
alternative, if you can't use a different filesystem, is to archive your files in a tar with permissions (--acls and --mac-metadata if you're on a mac)

In 2017 they started shipping #tar and #curl in the box, but curl is still soft blocked by the old versions of #Windows #PowerShell (you can use `curl.exe` or remove the alias).

I compressed an archive of nearly identical files (snapshots of the list of my tabs) in two ways.
First, as .tar.zstd, and that gave me 325MiB.
Then, I used #7zip with #lzma2, and got only 35MiB. Much closer to what I expected.
What gives? Is #tar stringing files together in a way that prevents #zstd from detecting duplicate data across files?
