Took child 1 down to the docks in #Galway to check out the #Tara, a scientific vessel that’s travelled all over the world, including across the North Pole and up the Amazon river! We got a lil tour, 15 mins about the boat and its history and mission and then another 15 mins breaking down the process of collecting data, sampling and analysing seawater. Kid was incredibly into it (he’s an avid #Octonauts fan after all) and well able to follow it – impressed and delighted for the lil 5yo tyke.

Every once in a while I try to sort out exactly what version of #Kali I worship, among over a hundred versions, but I honestly can't tell Kali apart from for example #Tara. Partly this is because I worship a very old version of Kali, who is nothing like the modern protective Kali, and since I know that there's only one goddess, worshipping some lesser off-shoot version like Tara, would be like denying the wholeness of reality. ...and so I quickly just give up and stop giving a fuck.

From the grave of #Aillen from Dún Aillen grew an apple tree. Likewise, a yew tree grew from that of #Báilé, her lover. After 7 years the trees were cut down and "poet's tablets" made from them. Much later the 2 tablets were brought together at #Samhain at #Tara, whereupon they sprang together and intertwined so that they could not be pulled apart.

`The #fairy king #Midir fell in love with the beautiful #Étain. Unluckily, he was already married to the jealous #druid Fuamnach, who cast a spell on her rival. Étain immediately turned into a beautiful fly. In this form she flew about until she accidentally drowned in a glass of wine. Upon emptying it, a princess got pregnant. Her child was the reborn Étain, who grew up to be just as beautiful as in her earlier incarnation. She had no memory of her earlier life as Midir’s beloved, and so she married the king of #Tara, Eochaid Airem. Midir had never forgotten her, however, and set about gaining back his beloved. He arrived at Tara and challenged the king to a game of Fidchell, with the prize being a kiss from Étain. As he kissed her, memory flooded back to Étain, and she remembered her earlier life as Midir’s beloved. Together, they flew away through the skylight at Tara, joined by a golden chain.`
