This young lady is a Poecilotheria ornata juvenile, sitting at the entrance to her corkbark tube hide (in the wild she would be inside a tree or hidden under loose bark) waiting for prey.

Note the yellow under her front legs, used for threat display - legs raised, fangs exposed to say "Back off as I'm extremely venomous"

My #Theraphosa blondi finally let me have this #molt and it was both large and intact enough that I am pretty sure I can officially determine that she is female! 🎉

That flappy bit between her front book lungs that is resting on a part of the forceps is, I believe, her spermatheca.

During feeding time for the #tarantulas this evening, the Pterinochilus murinus bolted which resulted in me briefly handling it - something I'm not a fan of generally but especially not with that species. Their common name is Orange Baboon #Tarantula (OBT) but they are better known as Orange Bitey Thing.

On a mostly unrelated note, my C. darlingi is easily spooked and loves to bolt. It's pretty small still so we don't know its sex but, if it is female, we're leaning towards naming it Mrs. Dash and, if male, maybe Michael Boltin'.
