Made a few changes to my daily app setup: replacing the old 2Do, replacing Safari and the new Mastodon client. I set up a new 'Bunch' to open those when I start doing some writing.

Where are all the nerds? It's very quiet over on Reddit.

Coo-ee! I'm looking for my tribe of people who don't expect me to speak org or emacs. People who love keeping their projects and tasks in a single document, as simply as possible.

@matadan is doing some interesting things with TP which I'm following with interest.

The 50th edition of the Plain Text; Paper, Less digest has just dropped!

This one discusses my progress with the syntax in , as well as 4 other plain text apps.

I also get a bit personal, sharing parts of my journey I don't usually discuss. The best part? Finally having the confidence to say whatever I want, without worrying about how it will affect the bottom line!

I've briefly written about how I'm starting to use the syntax in , here:

I'll write it up in detail soon. So far this has the simplicity I've been craving, without sacrificing the functionality I value the most. It's a hands-on approach, because that's what works the best for me.

Automations? Nah. I'd fiddle with the settings for hours, and then not trust them or feel connected to my work.

When I see new plugins for better task management in I'm impressed, but I can't bring myself to rely on a system someone else holds the keys to!

Enjoying exploring the way of tracking projects/tasks, and making the same system work in .

This system only requires a simple series of folders, and a small collection of saved searches for filtering.

Time sensitive tasks and subscriptions always go into my Calendar with one or more alarms set.

Geeky excitement!!

I've been trying to get a handle on , projects and tasks in for a couple of years now, and it's finally happened!

*drumroll* I've successfully integrated /Taskmator into my vault!

todo.txt is cool, but it doesn't allow for extra info to be associated with tasks. In Taskpaper I can add wikilinks to the main project page, and all tasks and sub projects move as one when dragging and dropping to rearrange. Swoon!

playing with the taskpaper app i just got today. it feels like a good place to put a combination of unfinished thoughts, notes and tasks into. definitely the main focus lies on tasks not on notes here. i have to figure out if and and how this app finds a place in my workflow

I tried and… it's pretty good. You write widgets in JSX, and they can get input from arbitrary shell commands.

Here's mine: a Python script reads my todo list and prints all the top-level tasks in the "Active" Project. If the task has children, you get a count of incomplete/total. @done tasks are skipped. This list sits in the bottom left of my screen, just above the wallpaper.

I'm hoping this will make my TODO list a daily thing, rather than something I can forget about.

Speaking of , I have a "work" trigger I fire every morning that opens all my default apps. This includes things like Firefox, Slack, and Terminal.app. It also opens all my default TODO lists in , and calls an external workflow with a weekly scratchpad/notes doc.

New post: TaskPaper 3 Child-aware Archiving sixohthree.com/taskpaper-3-chi

By default, TaskPaper will disconnect @done children from their in-progress parents during Archiving. Here's a script that keeps everybody together!

I've had for ages and used it lightly, but wow is it so much more powerful than I realized.

- You can embed searches into a document guide.taskpaper.com/using-task
- Search paths (a la XPath) are really flexible guide.taskpaper.com/reference/
- Extensions are super duper powerful (and you can write them in JS) support.hogbaysoftware.com/t/t

Here's a script I wrote to only archive parent tasks (e.g. don't archive children separately from parents) gitlab.com/snippets/1715499
