It appears that the problem weren't just the nvme drives and the database already suffers filesystem errors. A new, also more powerful machine, has been rented and will be migrated to shortly.

just as a note: the matrix server has been back up for a little while now (since yesterday late afternoon in my tz) – however partially due to the new message signing key (as i assume), outgoing federation is not yet fully restored if you are using the matrix server or even just an appservice like whatsapp coming frm a different homeserver, please have patience. it is expected to sort itself out eg when the old key expires in a few hours. #tchncs :tchncs:

update on the host h2 maintenance: right now only the new drive is showing up, which is ... kinda not ideal ... some things will be attempted and if nothing helps, its time to see how well pgbackrest works when it comes to restoring from backups #tchncs

the machine for Matrix and Pixelfed is currently down for maintenance. I have ordered more ram and a storage drive replacement. This was scheduled for 6pm cest and in the meantime memory was upgraded already – however there seems to be an unusual delay for storage... Please be patient. :)

Behold, the #tchncs matrixserver now supports sliding sync! This can dramatically speed up the matrix experience, but note that it is still under active development and you shouldn't entirely rely on it yet.
If you want to try it, you can either use element-x-{android,ios} or element-{web,desktop}. The mobile clients will demand and autodiscover sliding sync. The web/desktop client hides this as labs setting and you need to add: [syncv3.matrix.tchncs.de]

@milan Alles gut. Ich verstehe ja das Dilemma. Und nur weil ich eine klare Position habe, heißt das nicht, dass die für alle richtig ist. Ich hätte nur gerne genau einen und dauerhaften Fediverse-Account, von dem aus ich mich mit allen #Fediverse-Usern vernetzen kann, die das wollen (auch denen bei #threads!), und hatte gehofft, dass das dieser Account auf #tchncs bleiben kann, weil das mein ältester Account ist und weil tchncs.de gut administriert ist und weil es auch eine tolle #Community ist.
