On some hardware, enabling autodimm in #Trinity's tdepowersave resulted in high CPU usage and the desktop being potentially unusable when the display got dimmed. This has been fixed and will be part of the #TDE R14.1.1 release. As a side effort, several small enhancements have been made to the logic setting and displaying the brightness value, which resulted in better accuracy especially on machines with a lot of brightness steps available.

@Tim_Eagon @Arkanjil @ubergrog I’m really into Kevin Crawford’s #WithoutNumber system (#SWN, #WWN, #CWN). The only reason a group I know still plays 5e is the convenience of the e-book sharing through DND Beyond. For pure fantasy I’d rather try #TDE or #CypherSystem with #Planebreaker. I’d really like to find a group to play #TopSecretNWO.

A few recent updates that will make it into #TDE R14.1.1:

1. while tiling window, you can now show either a frame or the window contents, similar to moving/resizing operations
2. in konqueror, double clicking on empty space to navigate to the parent folder now works also in Icon mode. No need to reach that "Up" icon anymore!
3. default currency for Croatia, Lithuania and Latvia has been updated to Euro (€)

These changes are already available in #Trinity PSB/PTB.

New application: Kommando

Kommando is a "Neverwinter Nights"-like wheel menu that provides fast access to preferred applications. It runs as a KDED module and it is fully configurable from the #Trinity Control Center.

Already available in PSB and PTB, Kommando will ship with #TDE R14.1.1. Give more power to your mouse wheel!

Mid release cycle update

We are half way through the development of #TDE R14.1.1. Here are some of the key changes that will make the release:

1. window tiling support
2. improved TDE shortcuts for keyboard layout switching
3. new wallpapers
4. fixed arts crash on startup
5. fixed high CPU usage affecting some RPM distros
6. better support for recursive mutexes

New wallpapers!

After quite a long time, #TDE has finally got some new wallpapers added for the next R14.1.1 release.

In future we may add more pictures or we may consider creating an online service for #Trinity to provide more wallpapers on demand, similar to OpenDesktop/Pling.

@chaosfae I stopped dnd with 2e. Still into adjacent games though…I really like the #WithoutNumber system and am working on adaptations of both #DragonKingsProject and #B5 to it. I also like #TDE. I was really ready to jump into #FantasyAGE AND #Titansgrave until the setting got killed. Now I’m looking into #WorldofLazarus and #ModernAGE.

As anticipated with the release of #TDE R14.1.0, tqtinterface will be merged into tqt3 for R14.2.0. Work has already started on the convergence and part of the changes are being safely backported into the R14.1.x series.

Due to the high number of commits going on, you may occour into occasional FTBFS if you build #Trinity by yourself, but those are usually temporary and quickly addressed.

PSB and PTB packages are safe to use because broken packages don't make it into those repositories.

Just removed my #Ubuntu LTS VM with #TDE on it. Don't think I am interested in or have time to maintain the system.

1. tiling windows to a quarter of the screen is now possible with active corners

2. settings for Active Borders are now in their own tab

3. a 'distance band' is used to ease tiling. Drag a window and when the mouse is within the given distance of a border, tiling logic will kick in. This is especially useful for corner tiling
