Hmm, this week is already looking like a tough one... 3 teachers (nearly 0.25 of our staff) have #covid , 2 others have flu or respiratory illnesses... and we have only found 2 relievers...
I have 30 in my class, splitting a class of 29 between me and a colleague gives us 14-15 extra each...
With the usual learning and behavior needs, I can't see it being a great day... oh, and it's raining 🙄

I recently switched careers from #law to #teaching. I have a #JD and used it in various capacities including as a corporate lawyer and a public #LawLibrarian. Much of my work with the public in a #LawLibrary convinced me to become a #SocialStudies #teacher, since so many issues could have been avoided with basic understanding of government and some analysis skills. I have thoughts on the #TeacherShortage and why people are fleeing the teaching profession:

Curious 🧐 how folks like #schoolvoucher advocates want us to focus only on admin data when it comes to disproving a teacher shortage…..but want us to ignore admin test score data and focus only on parent satisfaction.

If parent voices are relevant to evaluating #schoolchoice outcomes in policy evaluation, then #educators voices are relevant to the #teachershortage debate.

Rough calculations… if we closed the loopholes so that those 60 Australians who earnt $1 million but paid no tax actually paid a fair and reasonable amount of tax, then we could increase by $10,000 the annual pay of approximately 1800 teachers. And those individuals are small fry. Imagine if companies paid fair and reasonable tax!
