When you use ruyao or crackleware, gradually the cracks in the ceramics get dyed with tea stains.

However, if you just make tea in them, the stains are mostly on the inside of the teaware. Not very satisfying!

I noticed Peter from pu-erh.sk's crackleware was evenly stained inside and out, so asked what he did. He said he saves his spent leaves and when he has a bunch, brings some of his teaware to a simmer in water and spent tea leaves, then leaves them to soak overnight. Haha! OK, then! Definitely noticeably increases staining inside and out!

I have a question to whom may know more about the topic:
Recently, I've bumped into a list of "4 famous types of [Chinese] potteries" and learnt of the fourth of them, totally new to me, from Chongqing, Sichuan.
The problem is that it's surprisingly obscure, likely due to novelty in application to teaware.
So, if you know something, please tell me!
Especially if there are Western-sided vendors for it!

New gaiwan to supplement my collection a bit on the unglazed side.

I found that for me an unglazed clay gaiwan works amazingly with green teas, so I ordered my second of that type. And, it is visually interesting too.

I guess it's a too broad request:
Only local to you or ordering overseas is ok?
Do you prefer a western or oriental pottery styles?
Do you brew tea in gong fu manner or steep it longer?

I personally tend to look for a classic shapes of Chinese and Japanese pottery and maybe unusual or modern-ish techniques.

I suggest also to tag a @ tea@a.gup.pe for better visibility.

This mysterious black tea pot from Jiri Duchek (via Pu-Erh.SK) seems a good match for aged Ripened Puerh, (in this case 2014 Red Shroom from White2Tea).

Fresh teaware that I eager to share photo of after returning from the post office.

Chonky boi (250 ml) and little fella (70 ml).

Would like to see how they will transform over time.

Opening topic.

From time to time, I lurk over in search of vintage, antique, or just interesting things. is the main theme, but not exclusively.

Let's start this topic with a chunky square boi of a teapot.
Supposedly clay, definitely fully hand-thrown.

My beloved silver teapot.
Besides being a quite practical vessel for brewing tea, it's a really nice piece of metalwork, making it aesthetically pleasing to look at

... especially in sunlight.

Received a package with a nice piece of teaware today - a or Jian ware, which is a predecessor of .
It's a medium-sized (from a teadrinker perspective) cup.
This particular piece has a lot of weight for its size and lies perfectly in the hand.
It's in dark tones, however more muted than most tenmoku cups, so it'll rarely be caught in shots, as it won't allow to showcase the colour of the tea.

Dancong Oolong was one of the first Chinese teas I tried. It has a reputation for being finicky to brew, however for the first few years, I brewed it in a fairly ordinary thin porcelain gaiwan and never really had any problems. Then I tried to improve my Dancong teaware, experimenting with clay, ruyao porcelain, and other teapots. I was never as happy with the tea. Going back to the same old gaiwan today feels like going home, and the tea is more enjoyable.

new addition to my teaware collection! Balance is on spot for this one.
Also, waiting for another, even more intricate piece, to get to me from Japan.

It's but also , so I'm taking my time with this 2018 Sun Fu heicha from White2Tea. Its golden flowers—you can just see them in the closeup on the first pic—flood the room with tiny lights, adding a mysterious sweetness to the tea.

The Hagi teaware is by one of my favourite Japanese potters, Mukuhara Kashun.

And although it's December, I'm listening to Dennis Johnson's masterpiece for piano, November.

There's a class coming up in my area that I'd like to take, but you have to bring your own broken and I don't currently have any broken . Do I purposefully smash something or is there somewhere I can buy broken teaware?

I've been making my loose leaf for a while now using a strainer that goes directly in a mug. Got a teapot today and now I can make 5 cups at once. Absolute game changer.
