I hang out in a couple of help forums for people learning web development and I see this type of condescending behavior all the time. If you feel that someone really needs to know your "better" solution, then give them a gentle nudge in that direction AFTER you answer their question. But don't just completely discount what they are doing because you don't think it is appropriate. You may not realize it, but you are contributing to a hostile environment when you do.
Why can't we computer people just answer the question asked? For example, if someone asks for help with their jQuery code, your answer should not be "You don't need jQuery for that" and then proceed to tell them how to do it without jQuery. You don't know why they are using jQuery. There is nothing wrong with using jQuery. If you don't want to help them with their jQuery, then don't. But don't belittle them by assuming they don't know what they are doing.
Hello! I need some #techhelp I keep getting notifications of mentions I cannot see and whenever I open tootle I see the error posted below. I haven’t even been able to post on my account at horse.jorts in a month. What’s going on and how can I fix it?
Hopefully soon #Mastodon fixes this weird feature where newcomers can't see old posts from other users, I know on pc it's not a problem but on the app it doesn't show for some reason and I would like it so new friends can see my old toots

I'm in search of a tool that can view and organize my photo library on my NAS without trying to import them to the local drive.
I'm on Pop!_OS.
I have nearly 1TB of photos to get through, and only a 1TB hard drive on my laptop. I need the photos to stay where they are!
