We are currently not allowed to talk about social/tech politics subject, firstly because people ignore it as "common sense" irrelevances and secondly they actively you if you push these conversations. I understand it's a hard thing to talk about, and likely impossible to get a solid consensus on, BUT we can build a map of diversity of views hamishcampbell.com/2023/05/20/ we do need to do this, to mediate the and social mess spreading,

It’s good that people try not to push pointless tech projects… And the majority of new tech projects are obviously pointless. To get an idea of what to push do a review and publish this, let’s build a community of useful tech together. We need to do better.

Keeping things simple and straightforward with the (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle ia a powerful way to promote the vs and the in technology development.

It's important to recognize that technology is constantly evolving, and the can result in a lot of that is not useful or sustainable. By composting this techcrap and promoting more open and ethical practices, we can create a healthier and more resilient that benefits everyone.

The focus on what we know works, as at the moment, almost nothing works for social good. The project is what is needed, a voluntary cooperative and collaborative alliance that is native to the .

The thinking is that we need to put a stop to the as we have piles of already to compost, that is a hashtag for this.

Almost all our software fails because they are building "control", where all good societies are built on "trust". We keep making piles of because we can't communicate about this simple understanding one way to address this is to fund the social side of tech.

The problem which we need to solve is the institutions funding of the social side of tech, if we this now most of this funding will feed parasite 's rather than anything useful.

It is important to remember that the funding for the should be used to support grassroots projects and communities, rather than feeding the and that can lead to and a loss of focus on the real goals. It is crucial that we push back hard on this and advocate for a balance of good vs damage, and strive for a more inclusive and community-driven approach to funding and decision-making in our ecosystem.

@witchescauldron Thank you for a glossary of the hashtags I was getting pretty confused there. You misspelled but it's kind of a stupid speling in the first place. You might add OGB and OMN to that, with links. Also "encryptionists" isn't about encryption. It's about , proof of work algorithms, and Byzantine consensus. Please don't hate on encryption it's our only hope.

Over coming pointless is about overcoming the prat side of the this is a VERY hard thing to do as the is a self reinforcing circle of decay.

This is why we use the composting metaphor, it's not worked yet, but composting takes time :)

The problem we face is that most of these tech project paths we know do not work, as the same projects has been tried meany times over the last 20 years.

One thing we need to do is focus on stopping this utterly pointless to focus on things we don't actually know are going to fail... but yes, you would be right to point out we don't know these ideas will work as we haven't tried them yet...

This is a good problem to have

@bob this is obviously not what I am talking about.

Am nearly always talking about "us" rarely about "them"... Why you might ask (I would hope).

It's about power and where it lies (that misspell is half on purpose).

A path for thinking:

Power comes from social groups built on trust.

Helplessness comes from isolated individuals.

Which is our/there pushing, in this view we find a root to the problem, and a path out of this mess
