Why does it seem like much of the #podcast community has levelled up it's pissing match factor in recent? It seems like so many podcasters are now having to definitively put their stamp on any conversation, even when it doesn't add anything further. Is it because people are fighting for perceived notoriety in a jam packed industry? Or is it more like #podcasters are falling in to the trap that has plagued many #techies - full of arrogance for no real reason. I'm genuinely baffled.

For the #techies, #influencers, and #news reporters here’s my anecdotal two cents re social media:

1. I’m completely off Twitter. It’s a tangled mess of hate, controversy, lies, and bots.
2. I use Facebook only to keep up with friends. The algorithms and ads (as on all platforms) are useless to a user like me.
3. Mastodon is my only go to for news, updates, and debate. So far, the absence of algorithms has kept the bullies away. Not interested in exploring other platforms. I like it here.

A question for the #engineers and #builders, #pilots, #captains and #techies out there in the fediverse: why is commercial hydraulic fluid used in planes and ships highly flammable? Are there no reasonable-cost alternatives? It seems like there would be motivation to avoid having flammable fluids on ships and planes (two places where firefighting assistance isn't available), and yet. Question for #programmers #techies and so on: how often do you go over your #workflow with a view to improving it?

The reason I ask is because I had some spare time to add a few aliases in my #nushell config today and remembered that there's a few #vim things that I haven't fixed up for years and have just kind of worked around.

I'm ok with my workflow being roughly stable. I'm just wondering when I'm going to find the time for (eg) the hurdle which is integrating #steno into my vimrc, which is the only way I'm going to make the jump into using steno full-time.

I can use Outlook.com and Gmail.com to check #email, but if I open a message multiple times there, it gets downloaded multiple times. If I use the #Outlook app to check email, it will only download messages once. That means the app is better for my data limit right now, right?
