Web admin / dev folk, if you run an experiment that redirects users based on the contents of a cookie and your client send you a message like "urgent! discontinue this experiment! redirects are breaking things", that doesn't mean "stop dropping that cookie", it means "stop redirecting users".

Cookies have a lifetime.

When your website deletes URL parameters and drops referrer URL when users land on your site only to be immediately redirected, don’t come crying to me about lost attribution in Google Ads and a spike in direct traffic together with a corresponding loss of traffic from other channels.

I told you to fix this in 2022. If your dev agency can’t figure it out, that’s on them.
