What I mean by social barometer:

When entertainment companies—groups like #TeenVogue and #Disney—land on our side it is because they think they will make more money catering to us than shunning us.

Why doesn't Disney still look like the old, old Mickey Mouse Club? Which was very white, very Christian, and promoted a fairly conservative view?

Simple: Because they make more money by _not_ doing that

They view us as a _market_, which compared to the 80s and 90s is _actually really interesting_

There are so many cases where people have been beaten, killed, criminalized, abused or sexually assaulted by cops they were told to run to for help. That's true particularly for young people, and particularly for young women, queer and trans people. It's just heartbreaking.

That's why we're abolitionists, because we can't tolerate this as survivors ourselves, and as people who care for survivors and young people who are experiencing harm.
