Local birdlife. The one that caught the fish was lucky to eat it - the other 2 tried very hard to steal it. And a not so great attempt at catching one flying - these birds fly very fast when low on the water. I took nearly 100 shots - and only one turned out half ok.

... which is a good thing, as I really wanted to see what the new lens* was capable of. Wide open at f4.5 (with both TC's it's about f13) it resolves tree branches on the horizon some 15km/10miles away. That's good enough for me. I guess it is 840mm on apsc, equivalent to 1260mm.

* I know I said no more, but ... Really couldn't justify the price for the photosniper kit (sobbing), so it's an original from the mid 1960's.

Oh yeah I forgot - a pod of dolphins swam by a couple weeks ago when I was testing the Fuji 1.4x teleconverter on the Jupiter-21m (giving it 280mm reach, or effective 420mm on my apsc sensor). Nice to see out the window at home.

As I said above, not the best but here is a sample of 2 teleconverters (Helios 2x + Fuji 1.4x) on the Jupiter-21m, pushing it to 560mm around f/11.

Dolphins in the bay, and 2 snaps of the eagle (at far too slow a shutter speed - oops).

Today's taken through a triple-pane window this time. Not much difference to double pane window really, the 3rd (2nd reflection) is barely visible. I do like that the more visible of the two faux Suns looks like it was bathing in the mist behind the local hills, though. Sun... bathing... get it? :blobfacepalm:

Since the teleconverter arrived last week, I've taken mostly test shots.Thought I might give it a go last night. It's definitely better than a bare lens pic cropped, I did a side by side and the 2x has much better detail.

Is it perfect? No. But I wasn't expecting a US$25 teleconverter to be perfect.

I didn't notice the rainbow flare in pic1 or I would have used a hood. Also going too wide makes it quite soft.

is notoriously difficult to photograph right (because their "structural colour" feathers do some polarization magic that makes them less contrasty on film or a digital sensor than as seen with our own eyes) and I wasn't making it any easier on me when I took this shot, and through the multi-pane in soft light and using a fairly heavy stack with no optical stabilization. Still, out of 4 shots I took, 2 came out well enough to fix in post. This is one of them.

Lens stack I used was the same as last week's / : Soligor C/D 28-200mm f/3.8-5.5 MC at 200mm f/5.6 and also a Soligor C/D7 (aka MC7 or 7-element multi-coated) Macro Focusing 2x . Thus, effective f-stop of 11 and focal length of 400mm, but a bit less light available so ISO-400 this time around. Shot using a body with at 1/160s and electronic shutter to reduce in-body vibration.

Three faces of the same , at 50, 100 and 600mm, recpectively (might not be uploaded and displayed in that order).

The colours in these images were obtained with a custom RGB tone curve profile in Picture Style Editor. I'm including a screenshot of it. Colours themselves weren't changed (in the profile), albeit the mentioned custom profile is based on "Landscape" one that Canon cameras have built-in and I do find the latter to not be linear about it on the colour wheel. But, the posted photos are, technically, straight out of cam! As meaningful as that is with digital cameras 😜
