Wireless Strain Gauge For Spinal Fusion Surgery:
To take the guesswork out of spinal fusion surgery, NZ bioengineers developed an implantable strain gauge to measure forces on the metallic fixation devices. #spine #fusion #gauge #strain #implant #telemetry

Soon I hope #Infosec people suggest driving an older car without these telemetry features to improve your security posture. Even you are using all #FLOSS and secure apps and stuff and everything encrypted with a dumb phone, etc. that you don't keep on you to be tracked you could still be thwarted by vehicle #telemetry and targeted on a very granular level unless you're driving something old. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/sep/06/cars-collect-extensive-personal-data-on-drivers-study-warns

Thanks @confluency for info that it uses tokens. Has issues, though fewer. One still must trust the third-party won't engage in account takeover actions or network level #tracking/telemetry.
According to a popular #adblocker it does fatech bad cloud(G)lare #telemetry js.
Horrified M'don would endorse untrustable third-parties, but unsurprised.

>I’m curious how this telemetry is inserted into links. Is this a service/software media outlets are using?
Looks like this is standard marketing analytics with plenty of choices for vendor, and "utm generators" to create these links are standard tools? -
Google Analytics being the biggest ofc.

Do you want to do some basic #coding on #Android without #OnlineEditor, #publicity and #telemetry?
Install #termux from #FDroid and add the #python package. Give it file access. Install #FHCode and open the directory you set up in termux.
Now edit in FHCode und run your code in Termux.

@hacb We can never have improved #software without "necessary" #telemetry. It is inevitable. 🤷♂️
#Hardware #Intel #GPU #Telemetry #Surveillance: "Though that sounds innocuous, Intel provides a long list of the types of data it collects, many unrelated to your computer's performance. Those include the types of websites you visit, which Intel says are dumped into 30 categories and logged without URLs or information that identifies you, including how long and how often you visit certain types of sites. It also collects information on "how you use your computer" but offers no details. It will also identify "Other devices in your computing environment." Numerous performance-related data points are also captured, such as your CPU model, display resolution, how much memory you have, and, oddly, your laptop's average battery life.
Though this sounds like an egregious overreach regarding the type of data captured, to be fair to Intel, it allows you to opt out of this program. That is apparently not the case with Nvidia, which doesn't even ask for permission at any point during driver installation, according to TechPowerUp. AMD, on the other hand, does give you a choice to opt out like Intel does, regardless of what other options you choose during installation, and even provides an explainer about what it's collecting."

So, on the @DestinationLinux podcast we again heard the usual shtick on telemetry and the "true number" of Linux users.
This times the hosts contemplated the "one user, more computers" issue, and instead of recognizing the absurdity of the situation, their solution was "well Apple counts devices".
In general, you can't count users accurately and ethically in the same time, because the only ethical way is to allow full opt-out.
