Great news! 58,000 hectares of the #Incomappleux #Valley near to #Revelstoke #BC is now set aside as a #conservancy. A further 17,000 associated hectares will be off limits for #logging.

In a study published today in the journal #Nature, a team of scientists reveals that it retrieved and analyzed #2-million-year-old #DNA, pushing back the record by at least a million years.
The DNA, retrieved from sediment cores at the northern edge of #Greenland, reveals stunning information about the plants and animals that once inhabited the area: an ##ecosystem that hosts a blend of Arctic and #temperate species unlike anything that exists today.

My current postdoc research uses #roots collected from #Trillium #herbarium specimens to quantify changes in #AMF community composition across the past 120 years in eastern North America.
Other past and current research focuses on shifts in #temperate #plants phenology in response to warming springs.
