It's comical how bad of a play the Tennessee GOP made this week. Before this week, it is highly unlikely that the names Justin Jones and Justin Pearson meant anything to you. Unless you were particularly interested in Tennessee State politics, there is no real reason why you would know their names.

Then, for dumb racist reasons, the Tennessee GOP accidentally vaulted these highly talented, highly charismatic people into the national spotlight.

This point has been made multiple times in the past few years and the #GOPFascism in #Tennesee makes it worth saying again:

Their platform boils down to two things: 1) "don't tell me what to do", AND 2) "I get to tell *those people* what to do."

It's nowhere near as innocuous as just "hypocrisy". It's fascism, plain and simple.

The #talibangelicals can't win. We can't let them.

The situation in #Tennesee is just heart-hurtingly shameful. Articles I am reading say that county commissioners will be responsible for choosing provisional replacements. Who would that be in this instance?

I remember after the 2020 presidential election when many activist groups were prepared to be ungovernable in response to any attempted coup by Trump. What's happening in #Tennesee honestly requires the same response and is just as concerning. If we were organized, we'd all be marching in the streets right now to defend the rights of Tennessee voters, but as far as I know, no one is organizing any solidarity actions. I hope I'm wrong and just out of the loop.

This is going to start happening in more and more states if we don't stand up and do anything.
