@HugoBookClub Just want to mention that you might want to check out #TenThousandStitches by @oliviaatwater for your organized labor in SF/F list if you haven't already.
It's not exactly a modern union, but the servants organize and demand their rights. And the main characters do go on to spread the struggle for labor rights in the epilogue. Very pro-working class (and dignity of working class) and labor rights imo.
Just finished
#TenThousandStitches by @oliviaatwater which is a wonderful #fantasy #romance combining class struggle, personal growth, embroidery magic, and romance. I was not expecting though thoroughly embraced the anger at injustice that is a (the?) main theme. And Atwater managed to keep me tense about the actual outcome of the romance. Also - best twist on true love's kiss ever. https://www.amazon.com/Thousand-Stitches-Regency-Faerie-Tales-ebook/dp/B09V4TPLFG/ref=sr_1_1

Quote about #anger in #TenThousandStitches by #OliviaAtwater
The maid Effie says "Getting angry doesn't ever help...All it does is get you into trouble."
The elf Lord Blackthorn (admittedly not a trustworthy character but ...) responds "If anger never helped, then why would you have it at all? Some humans are born with extra fingers or toes, yes, but all of you are born with at least a little anger. It must do something of use."
They don't reach a conclusion but it's an interesting discussion.
