@joey big fan 🙋🏽 and always here for discussions! I'm tagging my posts #TerraIgnota, but they aren't all spoiler-free.
K1: "I don't think it's true God determines all, like it says in that story. God can't decide what we do! God can't just say, 'go skateboarding' and then I have to do that!"
Strong believer in free will, this one.
(I'm starting to think Bridger's conversations with Carlyle in @adapalmer's "Too Like the Lightning" were inspired by actual kids' talk...)
Reading Left Hand Of Darkness and then Ada Palmer's Terra Ignota books directly after each other was such a treat. So good at embedding their stories within the worlds they have created. Very satisfying, like a freshly baked loaf of bread. Delicious.
#terraignota thought of the day: these books are liberally salted with transformative ideas, but I think the single concept most likely to increase human happiness if widely adopted is the bash’house.
How much @adapalmer's "Terra Ignota" continues to be on my mind?
Why, I just labeled a coordinate "2A" instead of "A2" as intended and immediately thought "oh, the second Anonymous"!
#AmWriting #TerraIgnota (no, unfortunately I'm just editing lecture notes, not writing Terra Ignota fanfic)
This #TerraIgnota #Utopian costume won a #PemmiCon #Masquerade hallway costume award ribbon.

Reading »Too like the lightning« (book 1 #TerraIgnota from 2016) by #AdaPalmer - so yes, late to the party and don't you dare fucking spoilering me!
It is exhilirating to read about how everything could change and be different. I needed this. It's mind-blowing, mind-opening, soothing and energizing. It removes me from this dreadful present moment in time-which feels omnipotent and unchangeably, unbearably anachronistic-just enough to remember that change will and always does come. Fuck yeah.
A lot of #solarpunk ans social #scifi books are exploring non-nuclear #family models, whether through #polyamory , different kinds of found families, co-living etc.
What's your favorite vision of family in speculative fiction?
I really like the bash-es from Ada Palmer's #terraIgnota , which are strongly implied as start of the great social transformation in that world.
Ruthanna Emrys' #halfBuiltGarden puts a very global focus on family models, differences between humans other civilizations.

Finished reading the #TerraIgnota series by Ada Palmer today and simply wow. It's monumental and I will need some time to process and reflect on it, but I already love it. One of the most challenging, fresh and insightful works I have read in the past few years. #PerhapsTheStars
"Your nation is those who went to school with you, who cheered beside you at games, who grew up with you, traded intimacies with you over the internet, and still today break bread with you in your own house, on whatever continent it stands. Your nation is the organization which you chose to protect your family and property, in sickness and in health, as you traveled the globe to find your ideal home." — Thomas Carlyle, Renunciation Day, March 24, 2131. #TerraIgnota

@adapalmer Today I finally came to the end of this incredible series that has changed me in so many ways for the better. Thank you!
My #TerraIgnota feed is now complete 🎉 https://notado.app/feeds/jado/terra-ignota
@Princejvstin I'm thinking about #TerraIgnota again, so I'd like to visit that world, but more bottom-up, so without any major characters.
I'd like:
to visit Antarctica with a greylaw Hiveless who worked on that project (surely such a person exists)
to visit the Moon with a Utopian scientist
to travel around with a Mason-to-be doing their annus dialogorum, talking to all kinds of people
As a huge fan of @adapalmer's #TerraIgnota, I should need these* beautiful things!
But... I'm very much not an Utopian; nor am I, one of the least competitive person's I know, a Humanist. I can see the Cousin strat, although it's more a goal than a reality for me... I love Latin, but not monarchies...
Maybe I have to accept that the Hive I was born into fits well enough. I am European by conviction as well, even though those ideals are drowning in the Mediterranean.
Fans of @adapalmer 's #TerraIgnota series can now get embroidered #Romanova hoodies, with flags of the various Hives, and optionally an add-on Cousin Strat marker!

Ah, come on, while I'm at it, another weird hot take, this time one on @adapalmer's #TerraIgnota:
Why are some many Utopians following Apollo's obsession with the Iliad and war, if excellence (or, as it's author(s) would say, άρετή) is the Humanist's ideal? Why aren't they jumping on that bandwagon as soon as they can?
I think it's because they don't believe in complacency. Confronted with Mirai Feynman wanting to be with their family, they'd say "great! Be the best parent...
