Mullein (Verbascum) mass bloom at the in , Iowa.

Mullein is native in Europe & Asia but was introduced in the US in the early 1800's & is considered naturalized. According to Wikipedia, western United States residents commonly refer to mullein as "cowboy toilet paper"🤠 🚽. I'd hate to discover an allergy upon first use😬.

This is poppy-mallow aka wine-cup (Callirhoe), a native wildflower.

Wine-cup is one of my favorite wildflowers though I've yet to really do it justice in my photographs. I've photographed it several times at the in , Iowa, so this coming summer I should have another opportunity🤞.

Susans are a native in Iowa & this mass occurred in one of the many areas where the city of Iowa City has begun the process of prairie restoration on public land. The restoration projects have been extremely beneficial to insect & wildlife populations👍

A tree swallow at in , IA. Tree swallows are one of my favorites because I'm a huge fan of metallic colors in nature. The paved trail along Terry Trueblood is lined with evenly spaced bird houses which the migrating swallows return to every year to breed. I always look forward to their return👍 .
