Some background to #Teufelsberg. It is not, despite my teasing or its name, a mountain, devilish or not.
Formed from the rubble of WW2 bombed-out buildings, it’s a 120m high artificial hill in Grünewald forest on the western edge of Berlin.
If that weren’t enough, it’s also a former NSA listening station, and the abandoned, tattered ruins are a ghostly reminder of a divided city.
More? The site was built on an indestructible Nazi military college.

Nichts fundamental neues und leider wenig technische Details, aber dass der Berg z.B. ein großer Schutthaufen ist, war mir so nicht klar (auch wenn es wohl naheliegend ist).

Auf dem Teufelsberg in Berlin, gibt es eine Rodelbahn und es gab funktionierende eine Skianlage. Und ab 1961 auch einen Skilift. Er ist schon lange verrottet.
On the Teufelsberg in Berlin, there is a toboggan run and there was a functioning ski facility. And from 1961 also a ski lift. It has been rotten for a long time.

something that reminds me of cooler times in #Berlin is #Teufelsberg, the old listening tower. Sitting on a mountain of rubble, it's now a tourist attraction that has been, for the most part, left in its current state of disrepair.
It''s one of an ever decreasing number of statements that haven't yet been sold out to the city's lust to cash-in on its cool. With a minimal entrance fee, that covers renovations for safety, you can now access the roof for a fab view of the city.

Teufelsberg Berlin, where art mixes toil and poetry, and touches your heart with images that are strong and moving at the same time.
