We were especially fortunate to be joined on the tour by Richard Remmel Rutter—great-grandson of Jacob Remmel, and grand-nephew of renowned Alameda builder Julius Remmel and architect Bert Remmel—as well as Richard's son Jim. They provided additional information about the family's history.
We will look at some of the works of Marcuse and Remmel during our next walking tours on February 25 and 26. Ticket info and details coming soon.

Sunday was a lovely day for a walking tour! Alameda Post's Historian, Dennis Evanosky showed a group of about fifty people around the area that Jacob Remmel chose to build his house and told those gathered about the Teutonia Park Homestead Association, of which Remmel was the first President.
Please enjoy this video of Dennis explaining how Jacob Remmel came to Alameda and details of the house he built on St. Charles Street. https://youtu.be/dNfjEP7iDDc
