You know clothes with elastane are incredibly difficult for machines to separate fibres so they are rarely recycled. Even second hand stretch jeans often are baggy and saggy because the fibre stretches out and shortens the life of the garment. I know hard pants are hard but 100% cotton jeans are the way to go for a long wearing garment that can be passed on/ recycled.

I'm not a model, the camera just turned on. I went out and bought a papier mache head so I don't have to model the hats.

I also went to three op shops and got a clothes rack for $3, a leather bag, a vintage towel and the only jeans I could find without elastane.

I picked up some cute pastel doilies today so I made them into a hat. Unfortunately I broke a size 90 needle while top stitching over a particularly gnarly doily and that tells me it's bed time.

Oh and I also grabbed a bunch of scraps from the free fabric bin and made a reclaimed denim hat. I love all the inclusions from the former garments.

I wish I had a boss to tell me what to make and just generally get the best out of me. I don't know what to do with my business. Currently I am crocheting headbands that take way too long and I will never be paid for my labour. I'm bad at capitalism.

I was speaking to a person from our bank because we were trying to get a green loan so we could afford solar panels. She asked what I do and I laughed nervously, telling her I used to make laser cut acrylic jewellery but I got guilty about using plastic and I now kind of make t-shirts out of textile waste. She was actually a huge earring fan and it made me realize I am fucking atrocious at business. Having a conscience is bad for making a living.

Two tshirts for $11!!! Well, and a few hours labour. Even the pattern, the Closet Core Patterns Core tshirt is free.

Somehow I have more pants than tops, so I picked up some bits of cotton jersey yesterday at my vollie gig and mixed them all up to make these tees.

The pink and yellow stripe will have matching sleeves but the green stripe will have purple sleeves.
