Morning roundtable on #N8DUY .
I took the bus westbound (well, with a bit of a detour northbound since that is what the bus routes go when you miss the direct connection). Took two rounds of the net from the Roadhouse, excellent signal report on my HT.
The challenge of the day is to get to Dexter MI on the bus ("Washtenaw Wave") and operate from there. I think I can hit #N8DUY #W8SRC and maybe #WD8IEL from there, but I'll just have to check. (except W8SRC is UHF and my #TH22AT is VHF only)
More #QRPpp operations this a.m, from a cafe near my house (Roos) I got 30 milliwatts into the #ARROW repeater using my #Kenwood #TH22AT. The repeater is atop #WoTo about a mile to the south. No signal reports yet but I'm betting it's pretty good.
Very tempting to rig up a portable #AREDN node from there and try to hit the 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz systems on that same building, that's going to be a good test location, and it's entirely plausible I could get rooftop access there at Roos.

Operated bicycle mobile on the #N8DUY morning 2m net today. It was a good bike ride, but indifferent radio operations. At 27F/-3C the operations of the Ni-MH battery in the #Kenwood #TH22AT were suspicious (there is a way to measure battery strength from the screen, but I forget the incantation to do that).
Still looking for the perfect spot to operate from - nearby, good elevation, not much road noise, ideally a place to sit and coffee.
About a 5 mile ride, good way to start the day.
Still liking my (new to me) 1994 vintage #Kenwood #TH22AT as a 2 meter bicycle mobile radio. Still sorting out VHF multipath tho in downtown Ann Arbor, not really sure what people were hearing.
The #N8DUY repeater is tracked on #Broadcastify - this might get me to subscribe there to listen to the recordings.
Next experiment: #PSOTA ("Parking Structures On The Air"). An All Hands Active outing to the top of the Liberty St structure a few years back was a success in hitting far-away repeaters.

Reading 1994-era reviews of the #Kenwood #TH22AT which is my "new" HT that I'm learning. (Monoband on 2 meters, 40 channels of memories.)
I have to remember that in 1994 money this was a ~$250 radio so it's very little surprise that it is more solid all around than the late 2010s sub-$60 HT's that I am used to using.
A common complaint is that it doesn't have enough buttons on the front panel to access all the functions. There are very un-obvious key combos you have to look up (or memorize).
