Ladies, gentlemen or any other identification, it is worth noting that the term, "date" comes directly from the Latin, "datum", literally pronounced DAY-tuhm, which literally means "to measure." We use the word, date, as a measure of time, therefore DAY-ta is _NOT_ an "American pronunciation", it is an English pronunciation. It's not DAR-tuh, it's not DAY-tuh, it's DAT-tuh.
