Today, Sunday 3rd September, the #ThamesBarrier will be closed all day for annual testing, a great opportunity to see it in action close up if you’re in the area. Absolute marvel of engineering, it’s saved London from flooding many times.

Closure times as follows:

10.10 - 11.55 Gates closing
11.55 - 14.30 Barrier fully closed
14.30 - 15.30 Gates in underspill
15.30 - 19.50 Barrier fully closed
19.50 - 20.10 Gates re-open again
