The last few years have been very tough, losing folks I dearly love.
My wife is away from me tending our troubled children. I can't be there with her. I lit a candle today. I find it holds my sadness in its lambent hope. #thankfulness #lovingmypartner

in a harsh world its hard to believe sometimes, but true helpfulness does exist. i read nothing but slams on the us health care system, but i am treated pro bono by my brilliant rheumatologist- wo ever asking him for that. and my uber costly daily interluekin-antagonist biologic injection has no copay bc the manufacture has an amazing patient assistance program. and since i am on disability i get medicare, and the hospital by me is one of top in the us, and accepts it, and so charges almost nothing for services. sometimes you just have to look relentlessly for those forces of good. but even a cynical misanthropic recluse like me does encounter them❤️​

Really thankful for all the followers I've gotten here. I love to follow back. Sometimes I'm reluctant if people haven't put anything in their bio and/or haven't at least established a history of boosting/liking masto posts.

Also, I try really hard not to sh1tpost on here. At the same time, I will critique media and dunk on fascists or their enablers. I also will critique some people's fave politicians if I feel they aren't serving the public interest.

#Thankfulness On this Monday back at work after being off all last week, I'm thankful. Last week I enjoyed sleeping in almost every day, working out every day, having new friends over for dinner, a fancy date night w/ my wife, seeing Black Panther 2 with the fam, hiking with friends on Thanksgiving followed by a non-traditional dinner of chili and cornbread, watching several world cup matches, and watching my 13yo son play in an All-Star soccer tournament that they won! It was an amazing week.

Gratitude implies being moved to action from a moral and ethical drive for reciprocation, sometimes months or years into the future.
