We went to our local metal bar to get out of the house and prevent me from sinking into my easy-access depression hole (FFXIV and No Man's Sky for hours on end) We ended stumbling into the first monthly board game night at the bar, where we met a very cool trans woman who was waiting to meet a hitherto unmet fellow dnd campaigner. And then, hours in to chatting and sharing food and nerst interests with her, we met the dnd campaigner, who apologized for being so late to meet up, and for not checking his phone sooner, and then we all four learned and played the board game our new pal had brought for the night.

I'm so glad she pegged my partner and I as an apparent safe space, and had the courage to come up to our table in a crowded room and ask if the seat next to us was available. What was supposed to be one drink to avoid a depression hole turned into three drinks, dinner, and a hellova good time with a new fellow queer person and a cis gender dude who seems pretty cool.
