“A poet of paradise, Jimmy Buffett was an American music icon who inspired generations to step back and find the joy in life and in one another,” said President Joe Biden in a statement.

@CordiallyChloe amen to that! I hit the literal end of the internet back in the mid-1990's! There were only 100K or so websites at the time, mostly text based! I remember war dialing on my dad's 300-baud modem to find BBS servers (pre-Intenet), and we got used to also getting kicked off when mom had to use the phone.
Remember when screens went from monochrome to 4-bit color? And we thought a 12in screen was huge!
Who remembers the Turbo button that doubled your computer's Front Side Bus from 33Hz to 66Hz? DX4-66 with Turbo ran at 133Hz?? 🤯
12in floppy's? 5-1/4in floppy's? 3-1/4in HD Floppy that can store 1.44MB!! "that's impossible to fill up!" 🤣
ZIP drives and SmartDrives.
Serial ports, IDE drives running at 33MBps, CD-ROM burners, and upgrades to Firewire.
Ahh, the good old days. 😎 Most people today have no clue! You are 100% on the mark here. The whole world has changed dramatically because of the Internet. It'll never be the same as it once was.

@joannryan I grew up not too far from that river (like a block from it!), although quite a bit further north of Christmas
Or this one, which the woman handed me with tears streaming down her face.
“Dear San Francisco… I met my late husband in 1973 at Perry’s. From 1975 until he passed in 1997 we lived in MA. Life comes full circle- my (our) sons moved here in 2009 and we go to Perry whenever I visit.
Anna”
