Joe was a rascal with an eye on an easy buck, misogynistic in a generational way perhaps, but he didn't hate women the way George apparently does. He didn't actually hate those unfortunate ferrets.
As I remember Nick and Joe shared some tender, if harrowing, scenes and confidences.
