Welp, didn't measure my distance and I'm too lazy to check it on OSM, but I'm pretty sure I ran at least a half marathon today, maybe more. I know that a 15k on a track usually takes me around 1.5 hours, and I ran about 3-ish hours, so it was probably in the 30k range. 🤔
The route took me through the flood zone forest next to the Maros, so I got to see some cool nature, and lots of doggos.

Went for a 30 minute run today.
I've been feeling a little bored with my usual cycling routes lately but don't want to miss out on exercise. Seems like a once- or twice-per-week run could offer an enjoyable difference. I'll see how I feel tomorrow (when le pain will be upon me).
Running through the forest makes me feel like a ninja. I should start reading Naruto again.
Went on a group ride with a couple of friends this morning. A mountain bike, a cross bike and a fixed gear bike; blessed trinity.
Ended up doing a steep descent that really got my adrenaline levels surging! Pretty long climb back up the hill after that. Might be broken tomorrow.
I also ended a 4 month pizza drought. Bikes, trees, pizzas...what more is there to want?
New bars day! 🚴
The dirt road leading into the village has been getting pretty gnarly, especially after the recent rains. I wondered if a wider carbon bar might give me a bit of vibration dampening and more control.
Found a secondhand pair going for a good price on Christmas eve. I really wanted them to feel great but was skeptical.
Turns out...they're amazing! Super fun and surprisingly comfortable. Slowly inching my way to my dream #tracklocross build.

First ride out in the new neighbourhood this afternoon. The gravel is less rocky than I thought it might be; pleasant surprise. Some serrucho along the way, reminded me of Ruta 40. Cold shower afterward. Happy camper.
Second ride out on these new 35c tyres. I can definitely feel the extra weight; a bit like running with heavier shoes on. Might also still be recovering my aerobic capacity after a recent blood donation.
Nice to have some extra grip and confidence when navigating mud and slippery sections of road / trail. I think I'll slowly bring the pressure down until I find a good balance.
I'm sure how many fixed gear riders know about this site but it has some great info if you're interested in tracklocross (or just generally riding your bike off road).
I've found the articles on gear ratio and tyre choice particularly helpful.

Night cycling is coool
We did 160km on tiny roads and gravel tracks this night
The calm was amazing
Wind and rain are hard on the body but bearable in this season
However I'll have to prepare myself better against the cold, shivering during a flashligh lit descent down a mountain road is very much: :thisisfine:
Rode a new loop today. My phone died so I'm not sure exactly how far I went in the end but it was close to 70 km.
Passed through some beautiful valleys and traced along the seashore; the vivid fields and monochromatic beach serving up a stark contrast.
I should really do these rides in the early morning and not at midday -_^
