Most stories in #StarTrek, like the #Borg episodes, involve personal growth or choosing a different path than the one expected. #TheAbandoned and #Birthright are episodes that are unsettling counter-narratives of Nature trumping Nurture.
#TheAbandoned had some key extra points for the Jem'Hadar kid:
- Adolescent alone
- People express fear and mistrust (prejudice)
- Sees example of his people as conquerors
Kinda wish #Worf was around to help channel his aggression.

That's a sad episode. No amount of love or generousity could overcome the Jen'Hadar child's programmed sense of superiority, suspicion, and dominance.
Kid probably got killed in the Dominion War hating the very people that had saved him as a baby.
