Belated thoughts on Here Lies Love, which I saw at the Broadway Theatre for $35 rush tickets in mezzanine on a quick trip to New York City. It’s a little thin in terms of story, drags in the middle, and makes one too many excuses for Imelda Marcos. But director Alex Timbers has staged quite the spectacle, and it works more often than not as a too-timely tale of the appeal of corrupt authoritarianism. The leads - Arielle Jacobs, Jose Llana, and Conrad Ricamora - all do fine work. #theater

@davidjchavez Fine review of an interesting out-of-town tryout that I kept wishing was a little better. To my surprise, the second act - more crisply written and less repetitive even if the subplots are thin - finally felt like the celebration that Cornelius’ character kept saying was his goal - even if he didn’t like the musical trends of the times. The choreography and ensemble make the musical. The leads do fine work when given the opportunity. #theater

Morgan Freeman starred as The Messenger, while Clarence Thomas & The Five Blind Boys of Alabama jointly embodied the role of Oedipus.

As part of tech cleanup, I dumped out and reorganized the tech storage bins. I'm apparently out of console tape, but I had a silver marker and plenty of gaff tape, so I could label them.
