I don't want to spoil anything, so I dare not say more, aside from this: when this story is published, I hope those of you who enjoy near-future SF about genetic engineering and the qualities that make a species sapient will read it.

The ethics of genetic engineering lies at the core of this series.

I burst into years a bit ago at an exchange between the geneticist and one of her creations, who can communicate with sign language.

I hope others pick up this book once it's published.
