Totally forgot to follow up on this. It was indeed, a wild 24 hrs. last weekend.

Fri:
19:00 - Meet and greet. 6 writers, 6 directors (incl. me), 24 actors.
21:00 - Meet with writer, select cast of 4.
22:00 - Writers begin writing a 10 min. play.
Sat:
07:00 - Get script.
08:00 - Actors arrive. Announce cast. Begin rehearsing!
19:00 - Showtime!

All of the stress and joy and collaboration of theatre compressed and distilled into 24 hrs. It was GLORIOUS.

I had to check my calendar because I couldn’t remember, but this is the first Thursday night (and full weekend) that I don’t have rehearsal or a show since Feb. 16! I’ll miss the backstage shenanigans, but it’s awfully nice to be home.

There’s a saying that directing a play is like watching your children wrestle with a bear. I feel for our director. Because we were all in a life and death struggle with that bear tonight. But we emerged victorious.

One more show to go. That bear doesn’t stand a chance.

We had a wonderful read through to launch our theatre production of Les Miserables: The Memoirs of Jean Valjean. This show features a super cast from across the area, those who have performed with us before, and brand new faces, side by side. It is an absolute delight to work with all these amazing people
