Just returned from a week at the beach to find this waiting for me: #TheBalladOfDarren by #Blur.

I actually cheated & streamed this while away. I need to listen to it a few more times before placing it in the canon: but I like it a lot. For me, St. Charles Square is the stand out track: spiky guitar, punchy lead vocals, & plenty of hooks.

On balance, the #vinyl is better mastered - more clarity, & better dynamics.

Mi impresión tras la primera escucha:

Está muy bueno. Gran nivel para volver después de varios años. Me pareció un disco muy parejo, diría que no tiene puntos bajos. No hay mucha innovación eso sí, pero eso, para una banda como Blur, es garantía de calidad.
Se me hizo muy corto. Son poco más de 36 minutos que me dejaron con gusto a poco.
Gran disco. Definitivamente se mete entre mis favoritos en lo que va del año 👍🏻👍🏻

BIG DAY for a new release!! Blur are one of those legacy acts for me. I will never get tired of them no matter how long they keep things going and I'll always listen to anything past or present, if the mood strikes (which is often). The Ballad of Darren is a classic Blur album but seen through their most relaxed lens. This album is going to grow and grow on me I am sure.
