The Hawks begonnen, en vooral Levon, eigen nummers te schrijven.
Met de terugkeer van Helm zullen The Hawks zich #TheBand noemen, zo worden ze overal toch al genoemd sinds ze met Dylan werken.
Al wou Helm de naam toch nog veranderen in The Crackers, werd het contract opgemaakt bij hun manager #AlbertGrossman als The Band.
Wat ze toeliet #PlanetWaves uit te brengen met Dylan en tegelijk ook hun eigen album #MusicFromBigPink met het nummer #TheWeight op een ander label
