I was loving Dan Levy's new cooking show, The Big Brunch up until episode 6. The judges give the contestants an extremely challenging task, insufficient time, and then blame & shame the candidates for not living up to their expectations.

Suddenly it became like all the other reality cooking shows 😒 #thebigbrunch

If you’re a fan of The Great British Baking Show, you will likely love The Big Brunch on HBO Max. Wife and I just binged it and loved it.

So, I'm loving #TheBigBrunch, BUT

I think they really whiffed it with the episode where they essentially asked the chefs to make something that would go viral.

Their criteria was vague and then they applied their unspoken criteria RELENTLESSLY.

Hate this.

Episode 4 of #TheBigBrunch is utterly Romancelandia.

The positive adjectives? DIRTY. FILTHY.

Love it.

I swear to god, they should have named #TheBigBrunch "Thirst Trap." I have crushes on half a dozen people.

I have to say.. #TheBigBrunch on #HBOMax with #DanLevy, #SohlaEl-Waylly, and #WillGuidara is absolutely fucking amazing. It is the best competition #cooking show I've ever seen. It has so much heart and kindness and an interest in bringing out the best of the competitors. Highly recommend!

@motoridersd My fiancé and I just finished catching up! #TheBigBrunch has been such a pleasant show. Such a great example that not all [American] reality/competition shows need major conflict or overly dramatic moments to appeal to audiences. I hope it’s performing well.

Dan Levy is a good host. I am enjoying him a lot on #TheBigBrunch. Reminds me of his time as one of the hosts of #TheGreatCanadianBakingShow

If you are looking for something life affirming to watch, may I suggest #TheBigBrunch on HBOMax? Yes, it is a cooking competition show but it is more than that. It’s kind. It’s is emotionally affecting. There are genuine stories being told about people who don’t often get their stories told. Oh, and there are so many restaurants, foot trucks, and pop-ups that I feel the need to try. L and I mapped out a trip already.

Watched the 1st episode of #thebigbrunch, plan to pass on the rest of the season.

I learn so much about and from the judges, mostly how shallow and myopic they see and evaluate food. Love cooking shows but this a pass.

Just finished watching a wonderful series on HBOMax - #TheBigBrunch which I almost skipped since every chef I know hates brunch service. Each chef contestant was deeply engaged with their communities and, while a contest, the show celebrated the sense of family that comes from cooking together and sharing self through food. #Chefs #foodculture #food
