Trying to make my postings here as little about #TheBirdPlace as possible, but #musk apparently when on a rant today declaring he and he alone will decide who is on #Twitter and what content is acceptable.

It’s worth trying to disabuse anyone you know that #Twitter is worth “fighting for.” Even when it was a publicly traded company it could make its own rules but now it’s literally the plaything of a single private owner. No one, literally NO ONE has a say.

So true! A lot of the reactions I’ve gotten to suggesting people move on from a centralized platform have been very addict like. I think that’s what helped me decide to get rid of #thebirdplace altogether. Life outside of a data farm seems incomprehensible to a lot of folks, which I think is both a little bit sad and a lotta bit worrisome.

So, I enjoy using #Mastodon more than I ever did #thebirdplace
Once you get the idea of properly tagging your toots and following search tags, you can find interesting content very easily and populate your own custom newsfeed, regardless of which server you're logged into. With the other platform, it was always hit and miss (mostly just a lot of drama and arguments there).

⤴️ This is a worth while exposé for anyone still sticking with #thebirdplace.

Whether you intend to or not, by logging onto that website you earn this man money. He doesn’t care about #freespeech. He doesn’t care about #democracy. He pledged to end #worldhunger and bought a social media platform instead. Be done with him.

The #twexodus’s resulting chaos, delays, and flashcrowd-like effect on #mastodon made me think of the first episodes of Battlestar Galactica where everyone’s trying to get on any ship they can find to escape the #Cylons, no-one knows what they’re doing, or if they can find their friends/family…

Here, however, the vibe is pretty hopeful, I’m happy to chill and let things settle down. The higher signal to noise ratio is *so* much nicer than #TheBirdPlace… I can feel my blood pressure coming down.
