Finished Box of Delights last night. It was a wonderful reminder of how deeply weird British people are, and I mean that in the most loving, admiring way possible. I really did think it was fantastic. Hits me in the same place as the Wonderworks Narnia adaptations. Some of the effects were really clever and fun! #TheBoxofDelights

@elcock I have seen the movie and read the books. The movie did not do the books justice, unfortunately. And one really does need to do the whole series, not just one book. The #TheDarkIsRising sequence is deserving of the same treatment that the BBC gave to #TheBoxOfDelights, which the movie really did not achieve.

I decided to start my #ChristmasNovel. #TheBoxOfDelights by #JohnMasefield, first published in 1935, really evokes the magic of #Christmas whilst having quite a sinister atmosphere. I have vague memories of watching a BBC series as a kid back in the 80s, which scared me due to all the talk about 'the wolves running'. I also love the rhyming chapter descriptions...
