In 1986 voegt ze zich bij de band #thepixies nadat ze reageert op een krantenartikel van #BlackFrancis die nog op zoek is naar een bassist en drummer. Ze neemt ook #DavidLovering mee, en indierock legende The Pixies is geboren.
In 1993 richt ze #TheBreeders op, na spanningen en ruzies met Black Francis, samen met haar tweelingzus #KellyDeal.
In 2004 keert ze terug naar The Pixies, om in 2013 haar bass over te laten aan #kimshattuck.

#GreatAlbums1990s – #TheBreeders - #Pod (1990). Meant as a one-off side project for Pixie Kim Deal and Throwing Muse Tanya Donnelly, Pod garnered its own cult thanks to pummeled pop like “Iris” and “Lime House.” If not for Britt Walford’s (Slint) solid drumming, it all might have collapsed like a house of cards. Steve Albini’s production keeps the chisels sharp and forestalls the tweeness that afflicted The Breeders after they turned “professional.”
