Amerikaans drummer die in 1968 #MichaelClarke verving bij #TheByrds.
Tot 1965 dient hij in het leger, maar maakt vanaf dan deel uit van de #FolkRock scene in San Francisco. Hij start bij de band #TheRisingSons met #RyCooder en #TajMahal, maar de band stopt door te weinig succes.
Hij gaat terug werken, maar dan haalt #ChrisHillman hem in 1968 bij #TheByrds, waar dan ook #GramParsons zich bij de band voegt.

En zijn beste soloalbum in 1987, met #CarlaOlson, en nog een live album met haar.
Ondertussen was er ook een rechtzaak over het gebruik van de naam #TheByrds.
In 1988 volgt zijn eerste operatie als gevolg van jarenlang drankmisbruik.
En in 1991 kan hij nog deelnemen aan een reünie van #TheBirds bij een huldiging in #TheRocknRollHallOfFame.
Uiteindelijk sterft hij op 24 mei 1991 aan hartfalen, dit door zijn drank -en drugsgebruik doorheen de jaren.

In 1969 begint hij terug aan een soloalbum #WhiteLight, maar dit mag pas uitkomen in 1971 en is opgenomen met leden van #TheByrds, en werd enkel een hit in de lage landen.
En zo werd zijn derde solo album aanvankelijk enkel in België en Nederland uitgebracht.
In 1973 komt er een reünie album met de originele bezetting van #TheByrds, genaamd #TheByrds.
In 1974 had hij genoeg materiaal voor een dubbel

Hij brengt in 1967 uiteindelijk zijn eigen soloalbum uit, een samenwerking wel met country legendes #Rex en #VernGosdin, genaamd Gene Clark with the Gosdin Brothers.
Hij keert kortstondig terug naar #TheByrds om Crosby te vervangen, maar zijn drugsverslaving en vliegangst gooien snel weer roet in het eten.
Hij zou nog één keer McGuinn vervangen als deze griep heeft.
In 1968 neemt hij een tweede album op, maar dat wordt nooit uitgebracht.
Maar maakt wel het schitterende en baanbrekend

Het duo zal vanaf dan covers brengen van de band uit Liverpool, tot ook #DavidCrosby zich bij hen voegt, en ze verder gaan als #JetSet.
Ze worden opgepikt door #Elektra, als ook drummer #MichaelClarke zich bij hen voegt. Vanaf dan noemen ze zich #TheBeefEaters, als #ChrisHillman zich bij de groep voegt hebben we de line-up van #TheByrds die in 1965 de single en album #MrTambourineMan releasen.

Hij begint zijn #Rocknroll carrière op zijn 13de in Joe Meyers & the Sharks waarmee hij in 1958 al een klein hitje scoort met de single Blue Ribbon.
In 1963 richt hij #TheSurfRiders op, en werden ontdekt door #RandySparks, waarop Gene zich aansloot bij diens band #TheNewChristyMinstrels. Op tournee hoort hij The Beatles en besluit uit de

Hij start zijn carrière bij The International Submarine Band, daarna #TheByrds waarmee hij in 1968 het album Sweetheart of the Rodeo opneemt, en met #TheFlyingBurritoBrothers de albums The Gilded Palace of Sin en Burrito Deluxe in 1969 en 1970 twee super albums.
Na het laatste album met The Burrito's neemt hij twee soloalbums op, die worden beschreven als de beste albums aller tijden.
De albums zorgden ook voor het bekend worden van een nieuwe artieste en #Countryster in wording,

Credited to #Lennon–McCartney, it was written by #JohnLennon with assistance from #GeorgeHarrison. Lennon described it as "an 'acidy' song" with lyrics inspired by actor #PeterFondas comments during an #LSD trip in August 1965 with members of the Beatles and #theByrds. "She Said She Said" was the last track recorded for Revolver.

Lots of very good songs here, but my absolute favorite is Yesterday’s Train, an absolute gem written by Gram Parsons.
It’s a song I played in front of a lot of a gaggle of rich coked up whites at an art gallery in Los Angeles.
At the end of the night, and this is no joke, some trust funder walked up to me and said “I don’t like music. There’s no money in it.”
Ummm…. What?
