Inspired by giants like Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders and Alice Coltrane, #TheCirclingSun keep that brand of spiritual and modal jazz alive.
Great instrumentation here from luminous keyboards, lofty saxophones, fluttering flutes, shimmering vibraphone, harp, acoustic bass and full choir.
At once familiar and new, it’s one of my favorite jazz records I’ve heard this year.
