Ariel: A young nomad.
Not affiliated to any land, doomed to fly the skies and seek shelter only on the most unsavoury places.
With her is the black cat Red..

"Why is he named Red?" you ask.
"Because his left paw is white," Ariel says, "how am I suppose to know? I don't know why my parents named Me Ariel! How am I to know why Red's parents named him so?"

For a moment you thought she would kick you out of the cutter, but a timely meow broke the argument.

1280 of a total of 5850 word, and I'm pretty much in uncharted territory.

I knew the first scene of this story, I know how it will end and a few scenes in between.
The closer it is to the beginning or the end, the better I know it.

I even know the tragic backstory of a person who will mostly be an arrogant asswhole, a backstory that will not have a single word appear on paper.

But most of the middle of the story, the through between crests.

That's 1866 words. When I was think about stopping for the day at around 700 or so.

Introduced some small semblance of magic, an alchemy of sorts.

It comes from a very old idea of mine, never could get a story that would make use of it, but it just felt right.

A more explicit form of magic would definetely be out of place.
Flying boats and floating islands are explicit enough already.

Arrived at the place where I was before choosing to reset the story, with 400 or so words less than initial count. And much less wasted time, or so I hope.

Decided to start over.
988 words yesterday, 1022 today, and I am about the same place I was before the reset.

I also took the oportunity to rename our lead from Emily to Ariel, I wasn't that happy with her name either.

Next step on her jouney: finding out the "submerged" island where she landed isn't as inhabitted as she expected.

As I think about it, I grow less and less happy with the direction the story was taken.

I'm sold on the idea of ignoring what I already wrote. What I'm not sure is if I just keeping going from where I am, ignoring the ideas who jumped in as I was writing ; or of I go hardcore and wipe everything clean.
It is about 3000 words only.

Did not progress much, and I will probably have to cut down a big chunk of what I already wrote.
I'm feeling more like going back to the original vision, where our heroine, is a criminal.

Another 1159 words in about an hour, and our heroine landaded safely if little out of air and with a painful wound on her right thigh.

On another note, I really don't have a name for this story. All I can think about is to name after a feature of the world: The Cloudsea (yes, veeeery original I know).

Another 1350 words for a total of 1454, . . .
I'll either write 10,000 per day or 10 words in 1,000 days, there is no in-between.

The thing is this: "The clipper burst through the clouds into the winds below." was the initial scene that set up this story, that, was to be the first sentence, I have not yet written it.

I still learn a lot about the world between the initial 104 words and the later 1350.
So I'm happy.
